About the Journal
THE AIM & SCOPE OF CHORO-GRAFIES
The journal seeks contributions with original investigations on current topics of architecture and urban space, aiming to promote and disseminate knowledge on theory and design of space in a variety of scales, the relation of built space with the environment and technology as well as bringing forth new theories of urban space.
Issues are published annually on a themed call; however, the editorial team may proceed with the publication of a special issue as well. Submitted papers are subjected to a double – blind peer review process by two reviewers and are published open-access. The selection of papers to be published is the responsibility of the Editorial Board together with the team of highly qualified reviewers (Scientific Committee).
Authors should expect feedback from the blind peer reviewing process within 3 months. Feedback may range from acceptance without revisions, acceptance after revisions, to rejection of the submitted paper. For more information, please see “Instruction for authors”.
HISTORY OF CHORO-GRAHPIES
The journal "Choro-grafies" was first published in 2010 by the faculty members of the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at the International Hellenic University, following the initiative of Professor Lila Theodoridou. Initially, the thematic focus was on the large-scale urbanized environment, with the first 5 issues reflecting this orientation. Since 2018, the journal has gradually expanded its scope, redefining its objectives, broadening its collaborations, and extending its content to include topics related to architecture and urban space. By 2023, a total of 10 issues had been successfully published, featuring 54 scholarly articles, 6 of which were written in English - (all previous issues are available in the “Archives” section of this website).
With the special issue for 2024-25, "Choro-grafies" enters a new phase of renewal, setting fresh goals. The content of this special issue focuses on topics related to public space and architecture and is curated by a special Editorial Board consisting of architecture faculty members from three different University Departments. The issue is supported by a distinguished Scientific Committee that includes both esteemed scholars and long-standing collaborators from the journal’s early years, as well as new contributors with extensive academic work, who are faculty members of Architecture Departments and Schools.
In the 2024-25 special issue, "Choro-grafies" introduces a new logo and a new website, while its 11th issue is published entirely in English. This transitional issue also marks a significant shift by incorporating, for the first time, student diploma projects -presented primarily through drawings and images rather than words- while maintaining the journal’s scientific profile, which includes full peer-reviewed academic papers.
(For a more detailed description of the 2024-25 special issue, please see the EDITORIAL).
