Abstract
The pedagogical approach of theater serves as a powerful tool for enhancing communication and
self-expression in students, particularly those on the autism spectrum (ASD) (Corbett & Asher, 2017).
The integration of theatrical activities with teaching methods significantly contributes to the creation
of a learning environment that promotes social interaction, emotional expression, and imaginative
development. This approach proves particularly effective in the study of Ancient and Modern Literature,
as it allows students to explore literary works in an experiential and multisensory manner (Corbett &
Houchins-Juarez, 2018).Students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often face challenges
in social interaction, understanding metaphors, expressing emotions, and collaborating with others.
Through acting, imitation, improvisation, and participation in dialogic scenes, students are encouraged
to delve deeper into literary narratives, analyze characters’ emotions, and develop greater fluency in their
communication skills (Barton, 2006). The pedagogical approach of theater is not merely an additional
educational method but an effective mechanism for strengthening the linguistic, social, and emotional
abilities of students with ASD.Furthermore, through the theatrical representation of literary works,
students develop a deeper and more meaningful connection with knowledge, improve their ability to
interact with their environment, and discover ways to express their emotions and thoughts with greater
clarity and creativity (Barton, 2006). Based on the above, the purpose of this study is to collect and analyze
scientific articles and bibliographic data related to the interpretation and discussion of the role of theater
pedagogy as a framework for developing communication skills and self-expression in students with ASD,
with a particular emphasis on Ancient and Modern Literature
